Royals Fall 3-2 to No. 22 Spirit

Surprise, AZ – The Hope International women's soccer team (8-3-2, 2-1-1 GSAC) dropped their first GSAC game of the season as they fell 3-2 to the No. 22 OUAZ Spirit on Saturday afternoon in Surprise, AZ.

It was the Spirit who came out looking the better side in this one as they created several chances before finally breaking through in the 29th minute to make it 1-0. Immediately after the goal the Royals had their best opportunity but Sarah Ralston had her shot saved. The Spirit kept creating opportunities but goalie Zaydee Solis kept it to just a 1-0 deficit at halftime as she came up with four saves.

The Royals came out of the halftime break looking for the equalizer and it didn't take long as Monique Cervantes found Ashlyn Edwards for her fourth goal of the sean to tie it 1-1 in the 54th minute. From there both teams pressed for more and it was the Spirit who regained the lead with goals in the 66th and 71st minute to take a 3-1 lead. The Royals didn't give up as Edwards scored her second of the game from Ryley Candelario in the 80th minute to make it 3-2 but that's as close as they got as they lost their first GSAC game 3-2. Solis played all 90 minutes in goal recording five saves.

The Royals return home for GSAC action as they host The Master's on Thursday, October 19 at 4:30 PM at OC Great Park Field 18 in Irvine, CA
