Seniors Deliver in Big Win Over Flames on Senior Night

Irvine, CA – The Hope International women's soccer team (11-3-2) took down the Bethesda University Flames 4-1 on Tuesday evening at OC Great Park Field 18 on senior night. 

Prior to the start of the game 15 Royals seniors were honored, 11 of which would start the game. The Royals then controlled the game from the whistle as they would outshoot the Flames 25-1. The Royals would find the breakthrough in the 13th minute as Hannah Ireland played a wonderful through ball to Emma Jackson who finished to make it 1-0. After a barrage of opportunities the Royals would score again in the 33rd minute as Gabby Arredondo stole a pass in the box and fired past the Flames keeper to make it 2-0 and score her first goal of the season. Then right before halftime a shot by Sarah Ralston rebounded to Olga Luna who calmly finished to put the Royals up 3-0 at halftime.

The Royals continued to push for more goals as they peppered the Flames goal with shots but just couldn't find their finishing shoes as the score remained 3-0 for most of the half. The Royals would finally find the back of the net in the 77th minute as Lauren Lizarraga scored after a corner kick led to bouncing ball in the box that she fired past the keeper. The Flames would strike late themselves as they converted a penalty in the 86th minute as the Royals went on to win 4-1. Zaydee Solis started in goal and played all 90 minutes recording three saves.

The Royals continue GSAC action on the road as they travel to Northern California to take on Jessup on Saturday, October 28 at 1:30 PM in Rocklin, CA
