Royals Emerge Victorious from the Lion's Den

Aliso Viejo, CA - On the road at the Lion's Den stadium, the Hope International women's soccer team (1-0) won in a swift 3-0 victory against Soka University of America Friday evening in Alisio Viejo, CA.

The Lions had no answer for the Royal's offensive intensity in Friday's game. In the first half, the Royals out-shot the Lions 12-2. It didn't take long for Royals Senior, Presley Honeycutt, to score the opening goal in the 9th minute with an assist from Christiane Sundstrom. Continuing with their offensive pressure Christiane Sundstrom scored another quick goal in the 15th minute to increase the Royal's lead to 2-0. The Lions had some chances to score towards the end of the second half but the Royals defense held the score at 2-0 going into halftime.

The Lions came out strong in the second half with an early shot attempt, but this attempt was met with a defensive save by Royals goalie Haley Slouka. The Royals answered with an aggressive goal attempt in the 54th minute but couldn't get it past the Lion's Keeper. This attempt was quickly followed up by a goal from Jordan Galvin in the 57th minute bringing the score to 3-0 and cementing the Royals victory.

The Royals will return to action at home Oregon Tech on Saturday, September 7th at 4:30 PM at OC Great Park Field 18 in Irvine, CA.
