GLENDALE, Ariz. – Junior Maya Estrada-Garcia led Hope International at the Great Southwest Athletic Conference meet on Saturday, finishing 14th overall in a time of 22 minutes, 57.5 seconds.
It was the second-fastest 6K race this season for Estrada-Garcia, who averaged a 6:10 pace on the Sahuaro Ranch Park layout.
Estrada-Garcia helped the Royals to a 5th place finish out of eight teams. The Royals tallied 156 points.
Sophomore Lupe Mata was the second Royal to finish, as she crossed the line in 24:06.9 for 21st place. Junior Jazmin Zambrano finished in 32nd place with a time of 27:59.6.
Rounding out the HIU contingent was Amber Minjarez in 41:16.4 for 56th place and Kassandra Galaviz in 53:34.9 for 57th.
The Master's won the team title with 34 points, while Embry-Riddle sophomore Sophia Noriega was individual medalist in a time of 21:39.1.
