Surprise, AZ - The Hope International women's tennis team (3-18) dropped their final game of the season at the GSAC Championships as they fell 4-1 to the College of Idaho Yotes on Wednesday afternoon at Surprise Tennis Center in Surprise, AZ.
The Yotes took the early lead as the Royas dropped the doubles point with
Ellie Black and
Nicole Escamillo falling 6-2 while
Merrit Dubourdieu and
Eva Echeverri also fell 6-2.
Isabel Coscolluela and
Melody Kilonzo were a bright spot for the Royals as they were ahead 5-2 but with the Yotes clinching the doubles point the match was not completed. The Royals looked to bounce back in singles as Kilonzo won 6-3, 6-0 but the Royals weren't able to complete the comeback as Echeverri lost 6-1, 6-3 while
Catrina Hibbard lost 6-2, 6-1 and Dubourdieu retired ahead 2-0 as the Yotes won. Black was up 6-1, 5-4 in her match and Coscolleula was also up 6-1, 5-2 but it didn't matter as the game had already finished.Â
