KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Senior Shelby Kain scored a goal in the 21st minute to power Hope International to a 1-0 women's soccer victory over Corban on Saturday at the Oregon Tech Soccer Field.
The Royals outshot the Warriors 21-2. Nine saves from Corban goalkeeper Ava Hayes was not enough as Kain's goal lifted HIU to 3-1 on the season.
Kain was the only Royal to log all 90 minutes on the pitch.
Kalia Lanoza picked up the assist as HIU moved to 1-1 on its current six-match roadtrip. Kain led the team with four shots, all on frame, while Annie Holst and Brandi Valdez had three shots apiece.
As has been the case in every game, Victoria Ruiz and Brittany Hazelton split goalkeeping duties. Ruiz played the first half, and Hazelton made one save in her second half stint.
VU concludes its trip to Oregon on Monday against host Oregon Tech, with kickoff slated for 10:00 a.m.
