Vanguard University - Competed with the Lions for 3 seasons under Head Coach Robert Pegg. During this time, he earned a 9-0 2.7 ERA his sophomore season, a 1-2 4.5 ERA his junior season and a 5-1 3.0 ERA his senior season. 

Savannah HS- Competed with the Rebels for 4 seasons under Head Coach John Baughman. During his time in the Orange League, Munguia was named 3x all league, 2x Silver slugger, 1x Gold glove and 2 x all lions tournament team. He also earned a 3.5 GPA and accounted 72 hours of community service.
