Coach Bree Mascarenas began her coaching career in 2016 under USA Olympian Crystl Bustos, serving as an assistant coach for her 12U travel ball team. In 2017, she continued to grow under the guidance of Batbusters coach Toni Mascarenas, gaining invaluable knowledge and experience. This mentorship led her to Santa Margarita High School for the 2020 season, where she further honed her skills working with high performing athletes. With eight years of coaching experience, she now enters her sixth season as an assistant coach at Hope International University.
Before coaching, Coach Mascarenas made her mark as a standout collegiate athlete. She transferred from Mt. San Antonio College—where she was named All-SoCal and earned an associate degree in kinesiology—to Hope International University. There, she completed her bachelor’s degree in Social Science (2020) and later earned an MBA (2022). As a student-athlete at HIU, she was a driving force behind the team’s back-to-back GSAC Tournament Championships in 2018 and 2019. She also earned multiple honors, including GSAC Player of the Week, All-GSAC recognition, and a Gold Glove selection. Her leadership on and off the field was further recognized through the Champions of Character award, reflecting her commitment to both faith and athletics.
Coach Mascarenas is known for her strong work ethic, attention to detail, and passion for player development both on and off the field. She is dedicated to fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and team unity. She and her husband, Alex, are proud parents to two sons, Shepherd and Ranger, who inspire her daily pursuit of growth in both coaching and family life.
