Jamison Sanchez

Jamison Sanchez came to HIU in 2022 from Marymount University California where he served as the head men's and women's tennis coach for three years. He started both programs where he helped them earn NAIA National Regional rankings in singles and doubles after just two competitive seasons. He guided the women's program to 14 wins and the men's program to 5. 

Overall, he guided the program to five ITA Regional singles ranking, four ITA Regional doubles ranking, one ITA National singles ranking and one ITA National doubles ranking in his first year. Then in his second year he guided the program to five ITA Regional singles ranking, six ITA Regional doubles ranking, one ITA National singles ranking and three ITA National doubles ranking. Players under Sanchez achieved many honors including Women's Conference Newcomer of the Year, ITA Women's Player to Watch Award, ITA NAIA West Regional Women's Doubles Championship Finalist, ITA All-Academic Team, ITA Scholar Athlete Award and CoSIDA Academic All-District Team.

Prior to Marymount Sanchez spent 42 years at Loyola Marymount University where he first formed the women's tennis program in 1975. While there he recorded 494 wins with the women and 211 with the men. He also led them to four conference championships with three in a row from 1975-1977 and then in 2002 at the NCAA Division I level. He earned West Coast Conference Coach of the Year in 2001, 2002 and 2006 while guiding the Lions to NCAA appearances in 2001 and 2002. Players under Sanchez achieved many honors including Division II All-American, LMU Athlete of the Year, WCC Players of the Year, WCC Scholar Athletes of the Year, All-WCC Academic Teams, All-WCC First Teams, All-WCC Scholar Athletes of the Year, LMU Highest teams GPA, NCAA Academic All-Americans, and the LMU Athlete Hall of Fame. Sanchez himself was inducted into the LMU Athletic Hall of Fame first as a multi sport athlete in 1993, then in 2003 as a member of the 1969 Club Football National Championship Team and then in 2019 as a coach.

On top of tennis Sanchez has a wide ranging sports background as he coached Division 1 soccer and football at LMU, high school football for Crespi High School and St. Monica's High School as well as serving in a variety of roles at LMU including Sports Medicine Trainer, Equipment Manager, Director of Intramurals and Recreation, Manager of Athletic Facilities, Ticketing and Event Management and Athletic Department Assistant, Special Projects. He has also served as the Director of Tennis at El Segundo Regional Park for 32 years.

Sanchez graduated from LMU in 1975 with a bachelor's in English and went onto receive a master's in Coaching and Athletic Administration from Concordia University Irvine in 2014.
