Fullerton, CA - The Hope International Women's soccer team (3-1) won their second game in a row as they took down Caltech 3-2 on Monday evening at the OC Great Park in Irvine, CA.
The Royals took it to the Beavers from the whistle as they created many scoring opportunities right away, but it was the Beavers who would strike first on their first shot on goal in the 22nd minute as they scored on a great shot from outside the box to make it 1-0. From there the Royals continued to have more possession and created more opportunities, but continued to struggle in the finishing department. It wasn't until right before halftime the Royals would get on the board as
Ruby Landeros fed a great ball across the box that was an easy tap in for
Stephanie Garcia in the 44th minute to make it 1-1. The Royals came out of halftime attacking hard searching for the go ahead goal which they found in the 51st minute as
Keyla Fragoso chested in a rebound off the post to put the Royals up 2-1. The Royals would then continue to dominate possession and got a third goal on a penalty kick by
Sarah Ralston in the 58th minute. The Beavers though would respond late with a penalty goal of their own in the 88th minute to make it 3-2 but it was to little to late as the Royals ran out the clock for the 3-2 victory.
The Royals continue their season at home on Wednesday, August 31 as they take on the University of Saint Katherine at 7:00 PM at OC Great Park Field 18 in Irvine, CA
