Royals Finish Strong at NAU Tune-Up

Flagstaff, AZ - The Hope International men's and women's track and field team competed last weekend at the NAU Tune-Up as part of their indoor track and field program on Friday, February 21 in Flagstaff, AZ.

Lupe Mata and Jazmin Zambrano both competed for the women in the mile finishing strong with times of 6:06 and 7:40. Mata also competed in the 800 meter dash finishing in a time of 2:50.

The men also competed in the mile with Caleb Ornelas finished first in his heat with a time of 4:43. Not too far behind were his teammates Daniel Perez with a time of 4:47, Andy Avalos 5:09 and Diego Pineda with a time of 5:12.

In the 800 meter dash Daniel Perez was all alone in his heat and received an accomplished time of 2:04. Diego Pineda also succeeded with a time of 2:11. Diego five minutes later went on to the run a very competitive heat in the 200 meter dash with a time of 25.4. Caleb went back out there and competed in the 3000 finishing with a time of 10:05.19. The men also competed strong in the 4 x 400 meter relay getting a time of 4 minutes flat.

The Royals will continue their season on Saturday, March 1 at Claremont Mudd-Scripps in Claremont, CA
