Fullerton, CA - The Hope International men's and women's track and field team turned in a strong performance at the West Coast Invitational this past weekend in San Francisco, CA.
HIU's track team traveled to San Francisco over this past weekend. The men had the chance to compete in their first Distance Medley Relay (4000 meters with a 1 mile leg- 1200 meter leg- 800 meter leg- and 400 meter leg).Â

Diego Pineda,
Andy Avalos, and
Caleb Ornelas finished strong with a time of 11:31.01. Â

Other fantastic finishes were
Daniel Perez clocking 1:58 in the 800 meter dash,
Diego Pineda finishing strong in the 1500 with a 4:23.51 and turning right back around and giving it his all in the 200 meter dash (25.2).Â
Caleb Ornelas went out there and had a personal record for the 1500 with a 4:07.08, and
Andy Avalos finished very strong in the 800 meter dash with a 2:08.13 rounding out the performances for the men's team.
The women competed in the 800 and the 200 meter events.Â
Lupe Mata clocked a personal record of 2:29.00 and accomplished her first 200 meter dash in the fastest heat clocking 31.56.Â
Jazmin Zambrano rounded out the women and finished strong in the 800 meter dash to finish the day strong with a 3:04.38.
HIU Track and Field will be headed to the Pasadena Invitational this weekend on Friday, March 21.
