New Orleans, LA - The Hope International women's tennis team (2-10) wrapped up play on Sunday at the Dillard Tournament falling against top ranked opposition in New Orleans, LA.
The Royals look on No. 8 Loyola on Friday falling 7-0. The Royals tried hard but were unable to get a point in doubles as
Catrina Hibbard and Isabel Coscolleula came the closest falling 6-3.
Nicole Escamillo and Elli Black lost 6-2 while
Eva Echeverri and
Merrit Dubourdieu lost 6-1. The Royals tried to find an answer in singles but couldn't as they dropped all six matches with
Melody Kilonzo coming the closest at 6-0, 6-4. Echeverri lost 6-3, 6-0 while Black lost 6-2, 6-1.
The Royals then fell on Saturday to No. 5 William Carey 4-0 in a play to clinch event. Once again the Royals tried to get going in doubles but couldn't get the point as Echeverri and Dubourdieu fell 6-1 while Hibbard and Kilonzo fell 6-0. Black and Escamillo were locked in a tight match 3-3 but they did not finish as William Carey had clinched the doubles point. The Royals tried to get a point in singles but Echeverri fell 6-0, 6-2 while Black lost 6-1, 6-3 and Escamillo lost 6-0, 6-0 as the game ended.
The Royals then took on No. 10 Dillard on Sunday falling 4-0 in a play to clinch event. The Royals were shutout in doubles with Black and Escamillo losing 6-0 and Echeverri and Dubourdieu falling 6-0. The Royals tried to fight back in singles but were just too overmatched as Black fell 6-2, 6-3 while Echeverri fell 6-0, 6-1 and Dubourdieu lost 6-0, 6-0. The Royals were ahead in two matches as Hibbard led 4-0 and Kilonzo led 3-1 but neither were completed as Dillard had already clinched the win.
