Hope International sophomore Kaitlyn Maaske is a two-time winner of the Great Southwest Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week award, as the softball hurler excelled against two nationally-ranked opponents.
Competing at the prestigious NAIA SB Invitational in Shawnee, Okla., Maaske made two appearances, posting a 1.02 ERA with just two runs allowed in 13.2 innings pitched.
Maaske faced No. 6 Grand View and suffered a tough 1-0 loss. She went the distance against the Vikings, scattering four hits and striking out seven.
She was key in HIU's 3-1 victory against No. 25 Evangel. She tossed 6.2 innings, allowing just six hits and one run to go along with four strikeouts.
HIU finished 3-2 at the tournament and now has three wins this season against top 25 teams.
